On 27 and 28 November 2024, Mr. Panidone Pachimsawat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information, called on Mr. Pratchaya Pepatung, Vice Governor of Lopburi Province, and Mr. Watchara Krasaechat, Vice Governor of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, respectively,
in preparation for the MFA Outreach Programme under the theme “Reminiscing the History of
Thai Diplomacy”. The programme will take the executives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Diplomatic Corps, and foreign media in Thailand to visit Lopburi and Ayutthaya Provinces, highlighting the milestones in Thai diplomacy and foreign relations during Ayutthaya Kingdom, especially the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Thailand (Siam) and foreign countries and the development of multicultural society. This programme includes a first-hand experience on Thai historical sites such as King Narai’s Palace, Wichayen House, Kraison Siharat Palace, the Cemetery of the First Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, Wat Chaiwatthanaram and Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
The MFA Outreach programme is under the public diplomacy framework with objectives to
(1) share the knowledge and create better understanding on Thai diplomacy and foreign affairs,
(2) introduce global trends to the locals and promote interesting local wisdom to the world,
(3) create opportunities for all sectors to have accessibility to promote their local destinations, and
(4) support the locals to advance their province’s potential in all aspects. In addition, this outreach programme constitutes part of projects to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand in 2025.
