On 9 May 2023, Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Director-General of the Department of Information, and Department of Information executives met with Ms. Supinya Klangnarong, co-founder of COFACT (Thailand), who was accompanied by the editor of COFACT (Thailand), an advisor, and other members of the COFACT team, to exchange views and explore potential collaboration.

The two sides exchanged information and best practices in Thailand and from abroad on efforts to prevent and combat fake news, undertaken by the government sector, civil society, and international news agencies. They agreed to combat fake news, focusing particularly on social media platforms, especially fake news that negatively impact bilateral relations as well as people-to-people relations and those that misportray Thailand. Discussion also touched upon future trends and challenges regarding AI ethics, promotion of international cooperation on digital issues, prevention of conflicts originating from or aggravated by social media platforms, prevention of the spread of fake news related to work abroad scams, and prevention of hostile sentiments against other beliefs, cultures or countries on social media. MFA and COFACT ( Thailand) look forward to working closely together in the future.
