Department of Information welcomed and exchanged views with participants of an executive training course by the National Press Council of Thailand

On 9 January 2024, Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Director-General of the Information Department and the Ministry’s Spokesperson, together with Deputy Director-General Thanawat Sirikul, as well as executives of the Department received 31 participants of the “Globalization in the new paradigm of media” course, hosted by the National Press Council of Thailand (NPCT). The Department briefed the group on ways and means to report news on international affairs by Thai media, roles and duties of the Ministry, as well as the key focuses of the Government’s foreign policy. DG Kanchana also stressed on the importance of the media in shaping public perception of global affairs, communication of correct and useful information in the timely manner, communication during the time of crisis, and also ways to develop understanding with neighbouring countries.

On this occasion, Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee, Chairman of the NPCT, introduced the course that is comprised of participants from public, private, civil society, and media sectors and informed that the objective of this couse is to provide an opportunity for those working in each agency’s public relations to network, build understanding, exchange practices, and learn one another’s communication strategies. The views exchanged with the Ministry provided the understanding of various issues to the participants which stand ready for further cooperation with the Ministry.
